Thats because of segregation. As in seats left empty between the away and home fans.

Segregation in cup games for Everton such as the FA Cup at Goodison amounts to over 700 seats. For normal sell out league games its virtually zero due to the layout in the Bullens.


So Everton did sell out.

Nothing to do with segregation. Everton took the 3000 allocation and not the 1800 one. There were around a 1000 empty seats in the away end, if you look to the left of the away fans you will see the segregation in place beyond the empty seats. If fans couldn't get tickets at the last minute I would guess it was because the club returned unsold tickets in advance. It was officially a sell out for Stoke fans so 26,500 with a capacity of 27,550 means you brought 1,950.

Perfectly good following but not a sell out.
