Beeb noticing Everton…..veiled hit piece or genuine reporting….

Not sure I like this Beeb sport article, and what it seems to insinuate.

However, maybe I’m just sick of kopites infesting the media wanting to keep plucky old Everton in their place and I should pipe down and embrace this new media relationship with us, you tell me.

I am not reading it as in any way critical, just a factual piece about where we are and where we have been. It does though seem to sound a warning, to me, that the process has started and it cannot be allowed to stop otherwise we will end up back in the same place we were under Moshiri.

Hit piece. All of our spending doesn’t even constitute 75% of 1 Liverpool signing. And doesn’t mention that we’ve spent the least over the past 5(?) seasons with negative net spends.
Apart from where it says 'Spending between January 2021 and January 2025 was effectively non-existent, with the club instead making £86m in profit from player sales to help balance the accounts' you mean?

Seems a fair article to me. We have been a big club in the doldrums for so many decades now that people don't remember it. Too many modern football fans today are plastic and flit from club to club, following a player, or fashion or if they like this season's shirt. Thise interested in history will know of our standing, but they're not being fed by the media, who just cater for the transient "whoop whoopers".

There is a positive non-negative article about us on the rs dominated bbc. Revel in it!

Worth noting that whilst we have a high net spend (by our standards) this summer, it contrasts with previous recent windows where we made profits. PSR is over a three year window and we've had a major cash injection with the takeover.

Exactly what Carragher was insinuating.

Putting us in our place, Liverpool are the Champions, we are the also rans.

I don't mind that tbf, you have too take into account many previous journalistic pieces concerning ourselves were pushed articles from the club with Kenwright literally dictating what the individual could actually write to make everything look a happy camp.

no just poor ex liverpool player getting stabbed in his arse cheek for hangin around with grafters

You'll notice whenever there is a piece on Everton, they HAVE to have something about LFC.

Gary Speeds birthday recently, not a dot on the BBC.
Not sure thats unique to us though, I imagine its true of any club they can link some sort of rivalry too. The majority of media people are RS, incapable of being neutral and enjoy mentioning them whenever possible.

Just read the word net spend then thought ofc was there any other way we could do it. The amount of quality have lost and left the club during the past few years. Before even getting to the summer when we didnt even have a full squad at the start. What was the club meant to do, this net spend thing is crap ofc teams like liverpool city chelsea have better net spend as soend more and can get better quality and sell on.

It's fairly benign compared to the usual Beeb stuff. Nice to see us getting some attention from them that isn't just the usual 'they're nearly RELEGATED, they should really be RELEGATED, they're RELEGATION fodder, why haven't they been RELEGATED yet?' cobblers.

Don't know why I did the caps there. Too much coffee.

Its actually a very positive article from my interpretation, it states that during this window we've spent the most overall in our club history but there's no negative conotation, the thrust of the article is that we're displaying ambition and actually look like we're trying to implement some savvy recruitment. They also mentioned we're only 6th or 7th highest net spenders in the window too , so it's not just an Everton are spending so much money article to be critical
