As has been previously stated, he's found his level of football, he was never up to premiership standards but it wasn't through lack of trying.
im not sure thats entirely fair.
prem top goal scorer doesnt happen by accident.
we didnt have the system geared around him to exploit his ability to the full. he didnt make things easy on himself, perceived weight issues and a red card on debut ( ? ), then the cupping his ear to the crowd thing.
i reckon he is one of the best strikers in the championship, and off the top of my head the only one with full england caps.
he was with us at a time of big transition, we had used marcus bent well and still had the core of that system in use with beattie, but he was never going to flog himself silly like bent did because he didnt have the pace and was more used to being in the box looking for service from wide, not being a player involved wide helping get ammo into the box.
currently a lot of evertonians are slating johnson, for me such criticism is unjust, and somewhat shortsighted.
I just think that he's a good championhip striker, nowhere near good enough for us though always full of effort and willing to fight for the cause, dress it up anyway you want, but he just wasn't up to it. I like the guy, never booed him at any point, defended him in arguments.
We all wanted a successful James Beattie and regardless who was to blame for his failure, the move failed miserably. We were also his last chance of a move to a big club, unless ofcourse Kevin Keegan takes a punt on him.
sorry to say, he had one good season at saints. was bought for far to much money. An was utter [Poor language removed]. No point beating round the bush, He was no ware near good enough.
He's found his level now............championship!
No, he played well for everton until andy johnson came into the team, and by then he only came off the bench, was heavily unmotivated and in the end was basically forced otu of the team, he wouldve been good for us last season liek he was the season before if we had played him more
