Page 19 of the below link shows cost per listener hour for BBC radio. They were considering canning 6Music (0.9p per hour and Asian Network (3.4p per hr but down 60% since 2009), yet allow R3 to operate at 6.3p per listener hour, with no reduction since 2009.

Shows who the BBC really represent.

BBC announce cuts where's all the money spent on ..
Not so much a case of what's the money spent on as where's the license income gone ! Income down £150 million on forecast due to more and more chavs claiming they don't watch live t.v. So can legally withhold the fee, they watch on I.player no need to pay ! Also SKY and others driving the cost of live sport coverage through the roof !

Have lived in many countries but have yet to find a better service than the BEEB , ever tried to watch anything on U.S. TV ?
240 channels of crap !

Surely it's time for the BBC to stop sending people all over the world to just stand next to a disaster or wotnot, and just have them do a voiceover instead? So much footage is made from eyewitness footage now they can easily make a decent item stiching a few clips together.

The best ones are when they report on Pyongyang but do it from a hotel balcony in Seoul! Why bother, just do it from London!

That's one area that I would agree with you on but for Drama, Comedy, Doccumentaries and News coverage (with the exception of your point) they're hard to beat !

Yep, they never fail with the documentaries. That latest one on Japan was awesome. The BBC are unparalleled in their ability to knit the human story into a nature series.

Drama and Comedy is a bit more hit and miss - I know there's a few successful ones but I don't really watch them.

BBC Four remains consistently interesting. I love that channel.

Or just do whatever they do to an excellent standard again perhaps?

rwading a story they are sacking over 1000 people due to drop in income of the tv lisence.

Now admittedly they probably do need to cut some jobs to make it more stream lined due to overstaffing. BUT, when your dependant source of income is the tv license fee and its dropping to the extent of 100 jobs cut then surely its time to find another way to fund yourself?

If they need to save money, then sending correspondents off to stand somewhere near something that has recently happened is not an effective use of money. The war correspondents right in the warzone are different, they really give you a scale of the conflict, but sending Robert Peston to stand outside the EU building in Brussels for a 30 sec piece, there's just no need. Waste of money.
