Bayern vs Chelsea CL Final

Bayern are the most perfidious, predatory, pernicious club on earth. Think of a hybrid spoilt brat love child of Man United and Liverpool. On steroids.

This is what Bayern do:

* They regard any emerging German rival as a critical threat to their own dominance and accordingly snipe at them in the press endlessly and ruthlessly, criticising their coaching staff, their backroom staff, their club culture, and so on.

* They remind their rivals' key players - very openly - that really they should be at Bayern, or even will be at Bayern, sooner or later (a classic example of this was the pressure they exerted on Sebastian Deissler for rejecting them in favour of a move to Hertha, of all clubs... eventually though, they got their man). This indicates a policy of strengthening themselves whilst at the same time weakening major domestic threats and thereby maintaining their status as top dogs in Germany.

* They endlessly big themselves up in the German media, telling everyone that Bayern can only fail if they beat themselves. Thus if someone else is successful - like Dortmund, who had the sheer cheek to win the BL for the second year in a row last weekend - it's because Bayern lost focus, got distracted, didn't quite cope with all their injuries, etc, etc, etc. By no means was it because Dortmund are any good. That said, Dortmund's manager seems like he might know a thing or two about football which means he is automatically going to be on Bayern's next manager list, sooner or later, if not already.

* They seem to have some range of influence beyond Germany too, because UEFA's new oxymoron-esque "fair play" rules cater to the needs and circumstances of Bayern Munich more than any other single club in Europe. Basically, these new rules are a blueprint for indefinite and radically expanded domination by Bayern to the extent that, if fully implemented, even Man Utd, Barca, Milan and co will have a time of it competing with them.

So... You may say you hate Chelsea and what the Russian has done there. But it's NOTHING compared to the menace to competitive football that is Bayern Munich. Anyone on here wanting them to win so much as a toin coss has clearly no understanding of what they're really about.

They're a superpower, and superpowers do all they can to remain dominant. There's one (or two) in every major league in Europe. That said, the Bundesliga isn't exactly monopolised by Bayern - that title has been spread around five teams in the last decade. As for taking players from other clubs: they failed to take the emerging superstar Reus from Moenchengladbach as he opted for Dortmuind.

They are dominant, though, no question But isn't that a lot to do with the system of membership control in Germany? They have that 50+1 rule that ensures no corporate takeovers - and therefore no mega-money being pumped into other clubs to make them a threat to Bayern's traditional dominace? Bayern simply exploit their greater ability to attract sponsorship deals and other commercial revenue. Maybe that's a price that has to be paid to stop German footy turning into the debt-ridden circus we have in this country?

Bayern also loaned 1860 mucnih and Dortmund money because they were on the verge of collapse...

would a club who are hell bent on destroying their rivals do this?

Yes, they helped both clubs out at a time when neither were a threat, and that's genuinely admirable. Although I know the Bayern fans were outraged about the 1860 aid in particular. However, it doesn't alter the fact that they deliberately target the best players in emerging and existing rival clubs and do all that other naughtiness I mentioned.

Bayern are the only super club in Germany. The second and third best supported sides (Schalke & Dortmund) are way behind them in terms of fanbase and revenues. And while they don't always win the BL title, they don't go more than 2-3 seasons without winning it. Nobody else in Germany enjoys that level of ongoing success.

Re: Reus, yes, Bayern thought he would be theirs and were snide about it when he opted for BVB, but if he continues to do well at Dortmund, the chances of them just accepting his decision are probably small. Just think of how they pursued Deissler across clubs until he joined them.

Did they buy one of the kids that came through at a club near Munich but only put £10million down with another £10million paid interest free a summer later?

like I mentioned in the other thread even the after match celebrations seemed empty as much as I hate to say it when the RS won the champions league and to an extent Utd you could atleast see the passion from the support london clubs just seem empty I dont know if its because theirs so many of them or if its just chelski
