Garbutt was technically robbed off Leeds was he not?
He was mate but because he was 14 I think we can take partial credit for keeping his development on track

As of late:From memory since I've supported Everton, players to come through from reserve/academy through to first team is -
John Ebbrell
Billy Kenny
David Unsworth
Michael Ball
Richard Dunne
Danny Cadamateri
Michael Branch
Wayne Rooney
Ross Barkley
Tony Hibbert
Leon Osman
Victor Anichebe
James Vaughan
Luke Garbutt
That's not forgetting releasing the likes of Jagielka and Baines before resigning them, shows that the academy still had an eye for talent. That's not including the next batch which have a chance of coming through such as Walsh and Ledson, Browning and Kenny. There's numerous others who have left Everton and forged a decent career so far, such as Baxter, Wallace and Duffy plying his trade at Blackburn in the championship. I would say we have an excellent academy tbh.
My point being talking about a reserve side gaining promotions, I just don't see how that's a big deal. Reserve sides/u21's are there to bring players through, ultimately that's what it is about. But that's just my opinion though as obviously it's a big deal to some if Barca B are getting promoted/relegated.
As of late:
Barkley, Anichebe, Vaughan, Rodwell
This was not me disputing if we have a good academy - we do, but how many Alcantaras and Busquets' etc etc have we had in the last 5 years? Whereas the number of them for Barcelona has increased.
My point was that he changed their academy, and they went from having to buy players in the majority of cases to bringing them through their ranks. I'm not arsed if he gained 50 promotions with them, I'm arsed (well, more interested than arsed, as I take interest in the management thing) that he made a useless team that couldn't do anything into a more competitive team and instilled a mentality to bring players through, e.g. winners. Similar to how Martinez has likely done for us, but less on the spotlight from our Catalan clown, cuz he's not achieved the same things obviously.
Yeah probably a sign he's on his way out? Not following German football too much at the moment but a mate of mine was saying Sammer was far too good humoured about Porto. He and pep hate each other apparently. He commented on that in the Guardian link Mikey posted earlier, and actually said he did that for himself, which I can believe - he's done crap like that before when angry at how things are going. Just like Mourinho does random stuff like that.
Anyway, it's good to note that that same team doctor has quit before because he didn't like the manager - and it was Klinsmann. So there's that...
Well Pep himself said he's staying for another year, so nothing's certain really.Yeah probably a sign he's on his way out? Not following German football too much at the moment but a mate of mine was saying Sammer was far too good humoured about Porto. He and pep hate each other apparently.
