Barkley/Sterling in Under 21 Euros

Sterling definitely won't go as he'll be flogged by Liverpool and England playing every match.

Ross will have had a rest due to his injury and won't play as many games anyway so could go.

Unless England are bringing a team that could win it with Ox, Sterling etc then what would be the point?

However if Ross was made captain it might be good experience leading a team.

yep, this was my thinking.

terrible idea imo - never really watched u21 tournmaments but i doubt it gives players that "big tournament" experience which would be the only benefit for them you'd think.

holds back future youngsters coming through and gaining the valuable experience themselves. like you said, these two have already been to a senior WC in south america - this won't help them at all.
not necessarily about big tournaments though IMO. It's about playing KO games against other big teams, penalty shoot outs etc. Good to get initial experience of those before senior level maybe? Maybe that would lead to seniors not crapping themselves if they ever get to KO stages again (not a given obvs) at senior level.

What would everyones under 21 squad be? Would you stick with the players that got you to the tournament? Or would you bring players from the first team for experience. This would be my squad

Marcus Bettinelli
Jonathan Bond
Jack Butland

Callum Chambers
Eric Dier
John Stones
Luke Garbutt
Carl Jenkinson
Liam Moore
Michael Keane
Jon Flanagan

James Ward Prowse
Tom Carroll
Will Hughes
Nathan Chalobah

Ravel Morrison
Nathan Redmond
Wilfred Zaha
Alex Pritchard

Harry Kane
Saido Berahino
Danny Ings
Callum Wilson

Id go on the basis of if you went the world cup last summer you may need a rest this summer so I would take as a strong a squad as possible bar players who went the world cup
