Yes, few years ago, and going back in April for a mate's stag! :)

You've gotta check out all the Gaudi stuff... Sacrada Familia, Parc Cuel, a couple other buildings I don't remember the name of, but really famous and on all the tourist guides. Camp Nou is a given, and strolling down La Rambla at night is always interesting, much lick going to Leicester Square or Covent Garden in London. There's loads of little squares of off it, and on one of them there's a really cool market, but I don't know what day(s) that is on. Plenty of cool bars around there too, and the Bari Gothic (I think that is what it is called), is just to one side (left as you walk towards the sea), loads of narrow little streets and churches and stuff. Also down at the Olympic Harbour (iirc) there's a strip of bars which is good if you want some cheesy brits abroad fun and frolics.

Was just there in July, mate. Fantastic city. If you're going to Sagrada Familia (and you should), make sure to order tickets online, or you'll be in line for several hours to get in.

Philw covered much of it in that post, but I would say just to walk around loads, and have a paella or 12.

one of my top 3 favourite cities in the world

phil's covered the best bits I think, all the gaudi stuff is amazing but the park and the cathedral are probably the best

explore la rambla as much as possible coz that's where you'll have your little adventures and stuff

all the street cafe's are excellent and reasonably priced if your not too close to the sights

nou camp's great but it's just another huge football stadium, albeit with a very interesting history and and an ice rink attached to it I seem to remember,

if you're a reader "barca-the people's passion" by jimmy burns is a cracking book to read before you get there, great history of the famous football club but an unbelievably informative insight into that city's history, you'll be glad you read it trust me

also, if you get bored, which you probably won't, take a train about an hour out of town towards tarragona to one of the best water parks/ theme parks in europe, port aventura, some awesome rollercoasters there mate...

...honestly, I'm actually a bit jealous.

have a great time

My brother and his mate went a couple of years back, managed to get drugged, robbed and dumped in the middle of nowhere. His friend woke up naked in the street, went to the doctor and luckily wasn't bum raped or anything, they just stole his clothes.

Seemingly this is not unheard of, so I would caution you to be careful in the bars.

That's another thing. Essentially everyone I know knows someone who has been robbed in Spain. I guess I was lucky?

Haha, I must have been too: found some tiny club off La Rambla, proper good house and ****, but was well knackered, so literally sat on the stairs in the middle of the place and had a quick kip.. Woke up and met some random french chick and her mate, and 'hung out' with her the rest of the night til they got the first train back to France in the morning!

there's loads of south americans there, all kinds of scams going on and on the lookout for any opportunity

treat it like any major european capital and you won't go far wrong...I fkn love it there

(I realise it's not a major european capital although for the pedantics it is the capital of Catalonia so...:P)

one thing i would say is use the metro, its cheap (i think its €10ish for 10trips ) and easy to get around with it.and as said earlier paella and sangria is the combo for happy times!Enjoy ...

Oh, just remembered. A little tip for better service. In restaurants the waiters love it if you call them by name. Lucky for us they're all called Pedro.

Can you bark at the waiter HEY MATE ID LIKE A SAY-VAY-SA POR FAVOR then over laugh at your mongy attempt at his language then they'll usually give you free shots mate.

It's also Spanish tradition to assault a seventy year old local woman for no reason wearing the football top of your country before showing your appreciation of their culture by throwing a chair through a cafe window after siesta time mate.
