Wow, just wow. Barca were fantastic last night, absolutely fantastic. It's clear I think that United, and indeed English football, aren't as strong as previous years and that Real/Barca are by far the best two in the world this year. Barca could have had half a dozen and it wouldn't have been out of place. Fantastic stuff, a joy to watch.

That said.. La Liga is still ****!! IMO.

To me Man U are still the second best team in the world, it's just number 1 is miles and miles ahead.

The most impressive thing about Barca this year is the way they sweeped aside the 2nd and 3rd best teams in Europe in the semis and final without any real effort at all. It's hard to think of anyone who can stop them in that form.

Swept away Madrid? Hardly.

As for best team in the world this year - they still have to prove that against South American competition.

We've had this argument before, I know, but Europe has won 4 in a row in the world club cup and last year the South American's didn't even make the final.

It was different in the past and it'll be probably be different again in the future but as of now best in europe is best in the world.

Leaving aside South America v Europe, I think we both know that - post-Copa Del Rey - Barcelona were rocking in their struggle with Madrid right up until the Pepe sending off in the first leg of the CL SF. Guardiola was rattled beyond belief and Mourinho looked like he had a game plan that'd make things, at the very least, very tight in that semi encounter.

Yeah, sweeped aside was an overstatement. Pepe marked Messi out of the game until he was sent off and then Messi scored two goals.

But that two goal lead was unsurmountable. And madrid just didn't look like they had enough firepower to recover once they went behind.
