Hi new member of grandoldteam,i'me travelling down from Ayrshire to take in the Birmingham match with my son cant wait,we shall be in Liverpool on the Saturday for a few beers and a good christmas night out,would like to visit a good blues bar anything u can recommend for us on the Sat or on Sunday before the match.

The Arkles
The Arkles is the nearest pub to the ground, and is the 'known' away fans pub. It's located in Anfield Road. It has been established as the away supporters pub for many years. Recommended if you are visiting Anfield or Goodison Park. Beware though, it does get very business, and is normally full about 2 hours before kick off!
The Thomas Frost
The Thomas Frost pub is located on Walton Road, and is about a 15 minute walk from Goodison. This is JD Wetherspoons pub, with all the usual beers, at reasonable prices. There is a usually a good mix of home and away fans, with a good pre-match atmosphere.
The Spellow
The Spellow pub is located near the ground, and also comes highly recommended, with a good mix of home and away fans.
The Leigh Arms
This pub is located on Barlows Lane and is 3 minutes walk from the ground on the opposite side of County Road. Big locals and fans favourite, can take some time to be served...but stick with it as the Cains bitter is excellent! Noisy, friendly atmosphere with away fans welcome. Sky Sports, music, food - often free Scouse after the match - even for away fans! Blue Heaven.
The Chepstow Castle
On County Road, this is not the biggest of pubs, and is best described as compact! When we visited, the place was packed from wall to wall with blues fans. Children are also welcomed. The pub is part of the Whitbread chain with all the usual ales. There is a big screen TV and 9 TV's booming out with Sky Sports.
The Glebe
The one is located at 195 County Road. The Glebe, has changed guises many times, most recently from a 'Hogshead' and changed also from Glebe Hotel. Whitbread House so all the usual beers. Big screen in one corner and a couple of telly's all showing Sky sports.
The Tramway
It's located about fifty yards or so along from the Carrisbrook, walking away from Goodison. A cracking little watering hole. From about 1pm it starts to fill and the atmosphere starts to pick up. Like all the pubs it gets 'chocca' but you can still get your quota in. Everton/Derby last year a fellow toffee in the bar fell backwards off a high bar stool, hell of crash, he picked himself up and dusted himself down, the whole place erupted, I couldn't drink for two minutes, excellent!!!!!!'
The County
On County Road, The County is painted blue & white and stands out from the rest. The landlord, Super Kev, is a toffeeman through and through. His wife, Tricky Vicky, is also blue but a bit dodgy when it comes to sport, she thought Ali G was a heavyweight boxer! The atmosphere is good, with a large amount of Home fans. There is a Big-big screen in the front and a few other teles throughout. Get down to The County, the pub has a great felling on match day, a real buzz, full of bluenoses which isn't bad for a pub painted red and green inside!
