The guy is a legend. You could tell he was going to be special from the moment he burst onto the scene. I remember him driving del Horno to desperation as a 19 year old against Chelsea, but his output in the last 12 months has been nothing short of frightening.

You'd think he was really selfish in front of goal, with a record like that, but in fact he's already bagged 7 assists this season, and 4 in the league (2nd highest in la liga).

Ronaldo runs him close, but honestly, I don't think there's anyone as good as him in the world.

I think that was in a run of 3 hat-tricks in 3 games. The kid is the best player of his generation for me, and that includes Zidane, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo.

As much as i hate Ronaldo, him moving to Spain has caused Messi to go up a level beyond even that of the 08-09 side which won everything so we should be grateful. As for today, the second goal was astonishing in the way that half the Villareal side was just one-two'd out of the way by Messi and Pedro, and the finish was brilliant as well.

That said, the ref bottled that decision which should have seen Maxwell get sent off for the professional foul on Borja when it was only 2-1, and then compounded it by letting Dani Alves stand about five yards away from the free kick. They also should have waited for Senna to come on for the free kick to be aimed at someones head.
