I'd just been paid mate, I'm not exactly rolling in it.

I DEFFO wasn't after that.

I know that mate, wasnt a dig. Self employed like a few on here, so it can be feast or famine at times. Found out today that one of our biggest clients is in big bother. Going to cost me/us, potentially, £50,000 over the next 12 months. Boss like.

No it's ok, I meant I wasn't rolling in it after that.

My father in law is self employed - at the moment, I think something like this would see him off.

Put it this way, Mrs Rs dream of a GOT mug for christmas is looking unlikely! Still, I chose the path, gotta roll with it really. Was PAYE for 20 years, decided life was too short, so have given it a go.

I hope you do well mate seriously, but can't help thinking of her poor face if she doesn't get that "sacred chalice"

Cheers Pat. It will be fine. Some negotiations thats all. I did give Mrs R her morning cuppa in the chalice the other day, just to make up for it like.

Got done once, someone copied card details and bought over a grand worth of stuff in Madrid in Sao Paulo, got all the money back though. Went overseas earlier this year and had the card stopped due to "unusual activity" - FFS, I was only paying for dinner. Made sure I phoned the bank and told them I was going overseas again last month and to not block it

Phoning your bank most times won't make a difference mate. There's a system most banks have to put notes on but it doesn't feed anywhere.

Some banks now have an online section to inform then where you're going, what dates and that sort of thing. Much better.

Due to POS (point of sale) skimming, banks will often ignore the information about where you are. I have had loads of cases by where contacting customers and being told by them " I told you I am in ......, so why have you a hold on my card", only for it turning out to be fraud pretty much straight away. Blocks on accounts are annoying, but when it turns out to be fraud its saves a lot of hassle.

Im afraid in the OP's case, nobody will be investigated for the fraud, simply on the basis that 90% of the time, the goods have been sent to a vacant house with the fraudster waiting close by to show up. Also likely that a number of goods from other peoples cards have been sent to be received the same day, highly unlikely it was 1 card hit.

Did for us - card worked fine the whole time. We did get a spare one before we went just in case though

It's 50/50 mate.

Like when I went to Rome I didn't tell my bank and the card was fine.
Went to Prague and did tell them and it was blocked!

This was before this new system came in though. Not tried that yet.
