Would've been dropped for Arteta, that's why we went for a loan. Even Moyes wasnt going for a punt on him saying if he's good we'd buy, if he's rubbish we'd send him back.
I can see Billy being a 1st teamer who Moyes has big plans for when he gets up to speed, Moyes has had an eye on him for a while.
Who's still about a month away from first team football, maybe more.
I was going off my previous point. He would've been forced to go if we put a bid in for him. Moyes wanted to loan him and not buy him.
Its better all round to drop a young player on loan for Arteta than spend £8million or so and drop him. Its what happened to Castilo. Looked a far better player than Fellaini when he came...but Fellaini cost £15mill and Castillo was on loan so Castillo was dropped.
Now we've got Billy I'm sure Moyes is going to play around with him, Pienaar and Ossie in the middle of the park. It would be stupid of him not to.
Clever carefully worded statement - keeping his options open, not upsetting current club/fans, while not being too negative about the proposed move, keeping the door open should we come knocking in January.
