Afternoon fellow blues,

So it would seem in recent weeks that the media (with thanks going to G.Neville on Sky) have finally cottoned on to what weve known for a long time now - Baines and Pienaar are the best Full-Back/Winger Partnership in the league.

For me, the most enjoyable thing about their partnership is that it made from technique and talent rather than physical attributes - ie both being rapid therefore bailing each other out of the sh*t.

As stated above, they are finally getting the recognition I believe they deserve from a wider pool than the Goodison faithful, however going forward could this have a detrimental effect on our team?

There are two likely scenarios now for ourselves and oppositions, and both have been seen already this season. Firstly, teams now treble up on both Baines and Pienaar - shutting down the space - meaning that one goes to Pienaar, One goes to Baines, and One 'marks' the space between the two so that they cannot get to each other with their one-twos. The problem has a domino effect because even though KM has been brilliant on the Right - he is extremely direct which (dare I say it) is easier to defend in the main (unless he has a 'derby' game - which was a thing of beauty).

The alternative scenario is that our DM tries to be clever and shifts Pienaar inside as he did against QPR where he is as effective but Baines without him isnt as effective (still amazing though).

So what do we think? Good publicity or the ruining of a game-plan?

YOU DECIDE! :)

If they treble up on Pienaar and Baines then instead they risk Mirallas, Coleman and Fellaini tearing them a new one on the other side or through the middle.

I'm sure every team is now aware of their partnership, i'm also sure they're that so good together that it's very hard to defend against even for the top teams. I like how when we play down the wings the team adjusts shape to have more passing options either forward, backward or sideways all around the oppositions box, even better is that we don't do an Arsenal and pass it around for ages in these areas, our team instead waits for the opportunity to blast a ball into the box or make space for one of our midfielders to have a shot.

It's wonderfull and one of my favorite elements of our current team.

Personally, I couldn't give a ****e how many players they put on Baines and Pienaar, they only have 11 players on the pitch, same as us. Treble up on them two and theyre leaving themselves open. With Pienaar not being there at the weekend though, it meant that the RS could put much more emphasis on controlling Jelavic and he had his least effective game for us, if teams keep going over to our left, it leaves a very potent center.

BRING IT!

I find it hard to believe that teams in the league hadn't cottoned onto how useful it is as an attacking outlet prior to this, but by now we have so many ways being able to get in on goal that we're hard to contain. Both wings are now far more deadly than they were this time last year, Mirallas has added an entirely new dimension to our game and Coleman has impressed on the offence at times. But we're not scared to go down the middle anymore (at last) as Fellaini's a huge option there and Jelavic has become that finisher that we've been craving for way too long. So I don't think the mainstream media have ruined anything, it's making people more fearful of an Everton side that have become more creative down both flanks and through the middle.

A good point well put mate. As a team we do traditionally rely heavily on our left side, but since the addition of Mirallas and Coleman being deployed at RB, we've got a much more balanced team and that will deflect attention off Baines and Pienaar.

We've actually got two very good wingers now for the first time under Moyes, and with the aerial ability of Fellaini and Jelavic we've got the ability to mix it up a lot. It would probably be more of a problem if we hadn't signed Mirallas I think.

But without Cahill we're lacking a cutting edge that we haven't seen all season, can't believe we let him go.

In every single thread there is one of these ridiculous comments.... all of which are extremely funny in a 'oh f'ck off not again' way hahaha

Trebling up leaves them a man short somewhere else on the pitch. It's down to us to exploit it and set up knowiung this will happen.
