Iv had to deal with them a few times for various reasons, on behalf of others mainly.

Something needs to be done about the way they behave and how banks behave, changing terms of mortgages without informing people!! FFS.. I know nothing will be done but its time the people stood up for themselves..

Lots of Youtube vids are there to watch, and hold a great deal of information..

He and his wife Susan, 54, took out an endowment mortgage with the now defunct Bradford and Bingley to buy the bungalow for £41,800 in 1988.

He and Susan, who works in market research, paid £300-£400 in monthly mortgage repayments and expected to own the property when the mortgage came to an end in 2013.

But he claims the bank told him 2007 that he would never pay off his mortgage because there was no record of him taking out the endowment mortgage.

He then says a bank manager assured him this was incorrect and even sent his wife champagne to apologise for the blunder.

But soon he was embroiled in a court battle over the mortgage, which he says the bank converted into an interest only loan without his knowledge.

Mr Crawford said he would ‘rather die’ than move from his home.

He said: ‘The bailiffs have just come along but won't show us the documents. There were huge guys inside the vans and we don't get people like that round here.’

Yesterday bailiff firm UK Asset Resolution Limited confirmed they would seek legal advice on whether Mr Crawford could be arrested for breaching the court order.

I do like this guys videos.. Yes he may not be in the right sometimes, but at least he tries!

I don't understand why evictions happen at all, even if the debt is genuine. Surely the maximum penalty should be a percentage take of income with the mortgage/loan frozen until repaid in full? Never understood it - turfing someone out of their homes just seems utterly extreme for me in any circumstance.

Thats it. So if you have 50% equity in the property, the bank takes the lot if you miss mortgage payments??

All I know is that when I worked in Jobcentre, people who missed water bills or whatever could have the money automatically deducted from their benefits. It seemed to work well.

So I'm not sure why the courts couldn't mandate the banks to take a set amount from any income landing in the account if there's an issue with the mortgage and freeze the loan. Not saying that should be the default mechanism as a remedy, but a last resort.

I would have thought most evictions happen when people don't pay rent and are turfed out by their landlords. That first example must be rare surely?

Wow, that is far too many.
At the end of the day, iv no sympathy for people on benefits who dont pay rent. The system provides plenty of money for them to live WITHIN THEIR MEANS... The amount you see on tv moaning, yet they all have sky tv and drink and smoke..

Iv never had to claim, but when we went down to one income we binned sky, neither of us drink (occasional beer at my dads) or smoke, and we can afford to live. Even those on income support can afford to live.

In the majority may be so. I receive 360 a month housing, maximum because I live alone. I receive 280 a month job seekers. My rent is 525pm. I cannot move to cheaper housing due to up front costs are beyond my budget. Before you think I am a habitual dole man I have worked almost constantly fo forty years and have applied for 458 jobs in eighteen months with one interview. Over fifties are fookked in today's climate. having said that there are a lot who can't budget and must face the consequences. I finally have an interview Monday.
