Bagpuss has just been voted the favourite kids TV show animal in a BBC poll. The cloth cat beat stiff competition from Tom & Jerry and Winnie The Pooh. Here's the lowdown on TV's favourite moggy.

Character: Bagpuss is a pink cat that spent his time sleeping in a shop owned by young girl called Emily. When Emily left Bagpuss alone he came to life with his toy pals Professor Yaffle, Madeline, Gabriel and the mice.

Appearances: Only 1, which raises the question,"is he related to vdm" ?

i personally don't rate him as my favourite in fact i'd put hartley the hare, topoff the monkey, or the moog off willow the wisp in front of the striped feline.

but top of the list for me would probably go to hammy hamster

Hartley hare and his brummie accent was stupendous, he sounded like Stan Collymore.

I'm not surprised, Bagpuss is the greatest saggy old cloth cat ever and i love him.

In fact i kinda wish i was Bagpuss, sleeping all day sounds well fun.
