Bad Referee

Right thro my time as a blue ive always remembered bad refereeing at Goodison, Sometimes it was a good thing for a quiet Goodison would sometimes wake us up.

Apart from a few decisions against Greece, and the Ukraine goal i think the refereeing at Euro 2012 has been good.

I don't really remember bad reffing as a kid but obviously it went on. Agreed on the poor decisions being the catalyst for a bumping angry Goodison so in ways I'd miss that. We're the master of our own downfall too many times so I'd rather we sorted that first. Clive Thomas is still a [Poor language removed] though.

Agreed on the refereeing being good at this tournament. I'm not sure if I'm swayed by the loose media stereotyping but the continental referees seem to be be better, although it's the supposed best at international tournaments so that will clearly help. Pierluigi Collina is still a [Poor language removed] though.

i remember singing the referee's a [Poor language removed] and whose the b*stard in the black. when i was a kid. sometimes you can forgive a referee for not seeing it, but when u see a ref yards away staring at the play and getting it way wrong its hard to not be confused by it.

It's human nature these mistakes though mate isn't it? Which takes it back to the original point you raised about how to counteract it. Technology or additional resources is the two options I can think of. I'd prefer the latter.

i can agree with human nature, thats why a little help can always be useful, then where would u stop then u risk ruining the game with stop starts and 90 mins games lasting 180 mins which isnt good on a cold January night.

I reckon they'll eventually start putting the two extra refs in like they've been doing. That's where it's going. God help them if they make huge [Poor language removed] ups, MOTD will be all over them.

i did and i fapped.

Just did a little sick in my mouth.

Refereeing in general needs to be reviewed, it is plainly obvious that with the current digital technology available to view the game it is inevitable that replays will show what actually occured. Many sports are taking advantage of this with video refs being called upon to support critical decisions. This will eventually become essential for dubious goal line and penalty box events. The same systems could and should be used for post match review and discipline of players not playing within the rules of the game.

im not sure the goal side ref is a good idea, what about the idea of a ref in each half??

Tennis and Cricket both utilise the appeal system. Two a piece per side in an entire game to be looked at by the fourth official on replay. It really is that easy.
