Or he just can't be arsed and does the bare minimum ?
I honestly dont think that mate,he seems to be suffering from some sort of mental problem to me think he would be better off getting out of the game because his head just doesnt seem to be in it,remember all the injuries he was suffering? He changed his car his bed,all sorts of things to try and find the root of the problem and yet years later hes still missing lots of games, dont get me wrong I dont think he would have ever lived up to the hype but there is underlying problems with him

We overrated him massively like we do with so many young players . But Moyes hindered him by never finding his true position, that and injuries obviously .
he was genuinely considered to be the best player in his age group in europe by many, not just at everton, he was also a ludicrous athlete till the injuries, smashing every test going. Moyes went some way to killing his confidence, injuries and perhaps a bit of killer instinct missing did the rest. He wasn't overrated though, he really was that good of a prospect, just never made the next step

i remember talk of him being the next ‘Rio Ferdinand ‘ but never the best kid in Europe but even if he was then he was blatantly overhyped. But as I say his career has been killed by hype, injuries and mismanagement. We are lucky We got what we did for him

At 16/17 he was actually thought of that highly by performance assessors and scouts etc, it's the one time I actually had inside info (flounces off to twitter), I pretty much agree with the second sentence, crying shame though, completely two footed, great athlete, intelligent, 6 ft 2, god technique, he really should have so much more
