After more than 150 years without a permanent home in the city of Sheffield, we want to locate the World's First Football Club back to its roots and the game's original birthplace. We want to bring the English amateur team of Sheffield FC back to the roots and build a new home for football! A home for football fans all over the globe, a home for all of us to celebrate the true values and original spirit of the beautiful game.A home for the games' heritage and history, for grass roots and football's next generation. A home for us to remember, what real football is all about.
Every football club needs a home, and from the first day of the club's foundation until about 1862, Sheffield FC's home ground was a field in Olive Grove, in the heart of modern Sheffield. Olive Grove is located within a traditional working-class district of the city and is today used as a ground for local cricketers. In June 2015 Sheffield FC was granted a free land lease by Sheffield City Council with a view to relocating to Olive Grove. Unfortunately the site at present does not contain the facilities to host senior non-league football matches.
To begin with, we need to level out the land and seed fresh grass for the playing field at the Olive Grove site. This will be our goal for 2015, so that Sheffield FC can eventually play football again at its first true home! To get started with the pitch, we need a minimum of £150,000 to pay for basic construction work, architectural planning, and associated legal and administrative fees.
