Squad and captain named today



Few head scratchers but omission of James Ryan an eye opener. Gone for power as expected but inclusion of Bundi Aki certainly took me by suprise - if not Aki himself.

Sexton omission not that big of a shock tbh - he's getting injuries almost everytime he takes the field and SA would've targeted him for sure.

I'm suprised and also not suprised Tipuric got selected. Understandable Wales and Scotland have a strong representation.

Glad Porter got selected, he is a monster around the field. Lawes seems odd given hes been out for so Long - maybe it was a toss-up between Ryan and him.

Van Der Merwe could be player of the series.

Looking forward to it immensely.

Surprised Jonny May never made the cut and Bily Vinopola, perhaps his injured.

Plenty of Welsh representation but we knew that with Gatland and good to see a fair few Scots in there too.

Bily Vunipola is useless. Hopefully Farrell won't be anywhere near the team and they actually play with the flair that they're capable of. They shouldn't get dragged into 10 man rugby by SA as they'd lose.

I remember in the 90s when some international rugby players were somewhat well known outside of rugby circles whereas nowadays I literally couldn't name a single rugby player on the planet. I think the only one I know of is the lad who used to bone Kelly Brook and the only reason I know about him is because... he used to bone Kelly Brook. I cant even remember his name either despite his impressive accomplishment.

Whats the actual state of the sport like now ? To an outsider it seems like it just kinda trudge's along and never grows, a bit like cricket. Both sports felt like more of a big deal 20-30 years ago... in the UK at least.

For me, yeah. Rugby (union at least) has become too much about trying to run over people rather than round them, and it doesn't work.
