Average bands with great albums

Stereophonics. Word Gets Around is one of the best UK summer albums ever but the rest of the stuff they've done is proper "meh".

Same story for At The Drive In, they caught something special on Relationship of Command but the rest of their stuff doesn't grab me.

Another smaller one is Basement, By Myself is brilliant but nothing else really stands out.

Don't think I've ever listened to it tbh, I just like the cover.

Big At the Drive In fan......my favourite song would be 198d which is the last song on Vaya, however would agree the other stuff outside of ROC is not as instant. Still love it tho. Amazing live show too

Recently I have come across a few bands that despite not being a big fan of before, absolutely have fell in love with one particular album by them.

A metal core band called ice nine kills , all their earlier stuff was generic , boring and just not worth your time. Their album the silver scream however is awesome and has a great range of different styles of tracks shifting between pure metal core and more light rock style .

Bring me the horizon , I like the odd song by them but for the most part never really got them, just not my type of music. However their upcoming album is looking like it may be great , their singles so far have been awesome and a few of the dropped songs on their YouTube channel sound great as well.

Anyone else got a band they don't particularly like but enjoy one particular album by them?
The new Bring Me album is really good but it doesn't even lay a glove on Sempiternal for me. A genuine modern classic and probably the best mainstream leaning UK metal album of the last 10 years with Sleepwalking having a genuine claim for one of the best songs of the decade for me.

I’m going to have to go through these albums and have a listen. I’ll be honest I struggle to like many albums and have have very few entire albums I’ll listen to. Rumours is one of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish. I only really have music on my Apple Music which kind of suits how I listen to music. Since the Boys season 2 I’ve been listening to a lot of Billy Joel but again it’s usually selected songs from each album

The one before Relationship of Command they had to lay down essentially as a live album - think it was like a day in the studio. It has a similar sound but I agree not one to stand the test of time really, I never listen to it but can still put RoC on to this day.

The Mars Volta ended up being pretty average IMHO but Deloused is one awesome album, or at least one half of an awesome album. If they'd kept at least a measure of respect for the listener they would have been incredible, but they fell into the bottomless anus of jazz noodling.
