AVB: Transfer window change

Player Valuation: £100m
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas says the transfer window should close on the first day of the Premier League season, while other managers feel it should be abolished altogether.

What are everyone's thoughts? i have to tend to agree with this point because for example, QPR vs swansea, swansea have gained an advantage by playing a QPR defence much weaker than what it will be to face other teams. obviously the luck of the fixture list can be influenced outside the transfer window i.e. playing a team who had 3 players sent off in the previous game. but still, it can provide as a bit of an advantage sometimes if you're playing a team early in the season before they have finished their transfer business as opposed to one that is settled.

Would avoid lescott like situations when a player due to be sold doesn't want to play because of worries about being injured too.

Would have no problem with the window only being open during the offseason.

We'd still get silly season, but at least when the football started, it'd be all about the football.

That's a fair point like.

We would probably have to throw in a few of our u11's when we are short mind you.

Going into the season gives clubs a chance to cover bad injuries that happen early on

suppose but that's just part and parcel of the game sadly. three players could get injured and be out for the season the day after the deadline closes. they'll just have to wait untill january

Going into the season gives clubs* a chance to cover bad injuries that happen early on

*Clubs who can afford to.

I think it'd be a brilliant change. First day of the season should mark the end of the madness and getting back to the football.

Agree that it should end on the first day or after the first weekend.

Also whilst it is not really the same topic I always think that all the games on the opening day should kick off at 3, same as on the last day.

totally agree, however, there are many changes i would make to fixtures and all

I don't understand why it doesn't close before the season starts. What's the advantage of an extra week or two?

Most deals are done at the end of the window anyway irrespective of its length, as teams try to hold out until the last minute to get the best possible deal(s).
