Like I said it was the 1st bio I ever read, never been into them or Niven,it was just sheer boredom that led me to read it,since then I have regularly had a read of it,certainly gave me a different perspective of the man you see on the screen,

He was James Bond!!

Entertainment autobiographies; Bruce Springsteen, John Cleese and Roger Moore's were all great fun.

Greatest autobiography of all time; Alan Partridge: We Need To Talk About Alan.

Cleese was more interesting than I thought it would be, I did pick up on the undertone that he was doing it for the cash but by the end you are left hoping he would write a second one to catch up to more recent events.

I also have Roger Moores and although he is a hero of mine and a lot of the book is good, did you not get the same opinion that he is one of those pensioners that can't wait for dinner so he keeps saying what he would eat all the time?

I would recommend Rogers friends autobiographies, (as already mentioned by a few) The Moon is a Balloon and Bring on the Empty Horses by David Niven and The Elephant to Hollywood by Michael Caine. Two of the best raconteurs around.

Yep I agree completely re Roger, he loves his boiled eggs for tea! Cleese's book made me laugh out loud and I really hope he does a follow up. Saw him and Eric Idle a few months ago live in Melbourne and that 'show' was most definitely a cash in, over $200 a ticket and I felt really ripped off.

I read the David Niven books years ago and I have both of Michael Caine's, the earlier one 'What's It All About?' (long out of print) is rather less PC than 'Elephant To Hollywood'...bit of a forelock tugging Tory is Maurice but, as you say, great raconteur.
