"A British man, Davinder Kainth, has appeared in court in Spain on suspicion of killing a man who was allegedly filming his daughter.

The BBC's Tom Burridge reports that Mr Kainth is said to have punched Sandro Rottman, who later died in hospital.

Spanish police said German national Mr Rottman had recently been arrested for possessing indecent images of children.

The Foreign Office says it is aware of the arrest and ready to provide consular assistance.

The incident took place on Saturday in the southern resort of Sotogrande on the Costa del Sol.

Mr Kainth, who lives in Spain, was eating with his family in a local restaurant when he is alleged to have seen Mr Rottman filming his daughter on a tablet computer.

Mr Kainth is thought to have punched the other man and no weapons were involved, according to the Spanish Civil Guard.

Although the Civil Guard also disclosed the victim had been arrested last week on allegations of possessing indecent images of children, it is not known whether Mr Kainth was aware of this.

Officers said that the suspect had been remanded in custody after appearing before a magistrate.

A spokeswoman for Spain's Civil Guard told the Press Association: "The discussion apparently began because of alleged recordings that the victim was making of the aggressor's daughter.

"When he saw what was happening, he took the tablet off him, saw the recordings, threw the device to the ground and attacked him."

Officers said that the suspect had been remanded in custody after appearing before a magistrate.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and authorities are awaiting results to determine how the victim died."

Gotta say I'd probably do the same as the dad. Seems like a freak accident that he's died.

If he's just taken one shot at him and he's either fallen and banged his head or something relating to the shot has killed him, then both of them have been unlucky.

If he's pummelled the crap out of him, then he's gone OTT.

Based on the report I would have done the same. I expect most of us would protect our family from inappropriate behaviour. Shame the guy died, but accidents happen.

I disagree, its not a shame hes died, considering what he was, the world is a better place without vermin like him in it.

I await some tree hugger to say "But it isnt his fault, its an illness", well now hes cured, the utter wrong un.

Actually have some sympathy for the Dad here, he's gone to give the guy a slap, not kill him, now he has to live with that his entire life, people under estimate how dangerous one punch can be sometimes.

I know what you mean Goat, I was thinking of the guy who probably didn't mean to kill someone and may suffer as a result of his action, he shouldn't but it happens. I don't feel any sympathy for the dead man, just sympathy for a man defending his family.

The report says the father looked at the recordings, so you'd imagine there was something on there to make him go through with hitting him. You can understand why he did it, but he shouldn't have really. Unless there's more to it than that though you can't blame him for the guys death.
