atmosphere at Goodison is awful.

I remember as a kid watching some genuinely poor teams and players and getting some awful results but the crowd got behind the team,I think the difference nowadays is even if certain players appear to try and give 100% even if they are playing terrible it doesn't seem to hurt them if we get beat, genuinely lads such as Steve Sergeant,Tiger McClaughlin,Roger Kenyon,Mick Buckley(RIP),Terry Darracott, would come off the pitch looking as though they were gutted, and I think that was it,you had a bond with the players, they wanted what we wanted,so we as fans got behind them always, not just some of the time.
This is a good point, the players couldn't wait to get down the tunnel yesterday, which is understandable considering they were getting roundly and rightly booed. John Stones was the only player to stay back and applaud the fans, says a lot about the lad I think.

Edit, by the way, I've not seen so many people leave well before full time for a long time, there were quite a few in the upper bullens going a good 20 minutes from time. Can't say I blame them.

At least they didn't have the cushions raining down from the top balcony thoughlol

at 1-0 down, what an indictment that is about the football we are playing at the moment

The atmosphere was very poor for a second half under lights with a ref who would have the old goodison steaming even at a 3 pm kick off on a Saturday in the 90s against a derby county. And let me tell you they were some rubbish everton teams. Oh the good old days. For ye young ones haven't seen a proper atmosphere in goodison. Last one was prob against those Italians from Florence some years back. Can't remember any that have stood out since. Would have made a big difference yesterday if the old lady got going second half. She didn't. Can't understand why the club don't do something about it as the fans can't and it would defo put some points on the board we pay 28 mil for a striker so you would think some effort could go into improving the atmosphere. And no I don't mean drums etc. We didn't have em back then to go nuts in the street end

Everton 3 v 0 Arsenal back end of last season was the best performance and atmosphere I've experienced at Goodison for some time. It was great on the pitch and in the crowd.- Performance on pitch (fantastic football that day, we played them off the park and the win was the 6th in a row), opposition (who included ex Blue Arteta) and what was at stake (still chasing a top four spot at that time) = great Goodison atmosphere. It does happen.

I was at the game against Florentina. Great atmosphere.

I've said it before and as have many others on here the tempo at which we play is so lethargic it transmits itself to the crowd. The annoying thing is we do have pace in our team, Lukaku, Barkley, Miralles, Coleman and baines but we don't utilise this pace in our team, which would generate a higher tempo, more chances and better atmosphere. Arsenal home last season wa a prime example, played at a real tempo, closed down the opposition quickly and created chances.
