Beat Real Sociedad 4-0 today. Coupled with Real Madrid's 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona shock 2-3 home defeat to Valencia, Atlético Madrid are now top of La Liga for the first time since 1996.

1. Atlético Madrid 57 pts (GD +42)
2. Barcelona 54 pts (GD +43)
3. Real Madrid 54 pts (GD +39)

At the very least, they're right in this title race.

And guess what the match is on the final day of the season on May 18th? Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid.

Could be some game that if both teams are still close.

Really, really hope they can win the league.

Don't see why not, they show no signs of slowing down...

Yeah they definitely can. Neither Barca nor Madrid are particularly brilliant this season and Atleti are resilient enough. Was at the game on Saturday and Barca were pretty dreadful. I should have stayed home and streamed the Villa game!

I'm pretty sure Messi can't play as badly as that again however.

I also would currently have them as second favourites in the Champions League after Bayern.

Most preferable would be a calm title win for Barca, but it would be pretty amazing to be at a title deciding game on the last day of the season!

Hope so. Sick of seeing most of these leagues stitched up by the usual teams. Good to see an underdog winning for a change.
Similarly, excepting EFC of course, I hope that Arsenal win the title this year. It really annoys me how much money City and Chelsea in particular can throw around to buy up players. I'm sure that they buy up some players just to stop other teams getting them. FFP is a joke.

Be incredible for anyone other than the dreaded 'El Classico'. That league is a joke, an insult to other clubs and more importantly the fans that support them.

I hope for their sake that Atleti has more than 3 point lead going into that last game of the season; that match will be officiated quite poorly I am sure if Barca needs the win.

Arsenal are almost as bad as the rest, their wages are massive and £40 odd million for Ozil, bidding nigh on the same for Draxler, bidding the same for Suarez, the only reason they haven't been doing it for longer is the fact they had the Emirates to pay for.
