Jamo Martinez

Player Valuation: £70m
The best team in the world travel to Bilbao for the 19.00 Kick off. Athletic are still in the transitional stage of the Bielsa revolution. They play some nice football but are not the finished article. The way they stroke the ball around in midfield is a clear sign that they've taken the manager's philosophy on board but you get the imprssion sometimes that they think they're Barça. They're not. They do however have players that would grace virtually any of the top teams in the word. Javi Martinez and Fernando Llorente are top class, while Iker Muniain and Ander Herrera could easily be playing for today's opposition. If not now then in the not too distant future. Amorebieta is the resident mad bastid defender and Captain Andoni Iraola is like a right footed Baines. Suasaeta and De Marcos are good ball players. Gaizka Tokero is the resident mad bastid attacker. He's more old school Athletic. technically limited but runs all day and gives his all. Crowd favourite to be sure. The asmosphere is always good at San Mames and they'll give it a good old Go.
Barça are, well, Barça. So I'm not going to tell you anything new about these boys. Apart from signing Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez, Youth product Thiago Alcantara has consolidated his position as a first team regular. He's been joined recently by winger Isaac Cuenca, whos already scored and caused a very good impression. Sick with envy is what I am.
Hoping for an Athletic supershow but I think the Champions will be a bit too strong. As usual. Should be a good match though.

to get the far east tv market. and putting on a good show too - 7-1 up at the moment.

Thinking of getting the footy back on Sky just for the spanish league, i know it's a bit of cop out to watch Real and Barca like, but i could be forgiven.

oh, and 7-1 LOL?

Nice post. Can you see anyone other then Madrid you can see beating Barca this season?
Cheers mate. They're the obvious candidates but there is usually a surprise. Can't see it being one of the other relatively big teams like Atletico or Sevilla coz Barça will be on their toes for those games. More likely to be someone like Racing Santander or Getafe when they're resting players for a CL quarter-final or something.

The Sunday noon [11 am] matches have been very unpopular with players and fans in spain. Attendances for these games have been low, the performances of the teams have been lethargic and sluggish.

Spain introduced Sunday noon matches this season in a bid to increase international television audiences for La Liga, especially in Asia, with China the main target.

The Spanish league is competing with the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga and the Italian Serie A for Asian interest and television revenue.

The Premier League introduced early games several years ago, the Serie A has a Sunday noon game since last year.

Until now, the Spanish Sunday noon matches have been relatively unimportant games between midtable or lowly teams. But two weeks ago it was decided that, in order to boost interest in Asia, the Real-Osasuna clash should be played at noon on November 6.

while in china
Interestingly, Jose Antonio Camacho, the current coach of China, and formerly in charge at Real and Osasuna, threw a wet blanket over La Liga's bid to increase television revenue in China on Friday.

"Nobody here is talking about the kick-off time of the Real-Osasuna game. It will only be televized if it does not coincide with table-tennis or badminton, which are the principal sports out here," said Camacho.Author: Duncan Shaw
