One game closer to that summer of assorted beer quaffing and international soccer aceness that you have got planned.
While some of them will be lucky enough to participate in it, it would seem a couple of our players have the same plans and who can blame them? Problem is that their lethargy will upset their egos next year when were not likely to contest European football, and while we have done amazing to fight back in the second half of the season it will largely be down to ourselves.
Next up are (the) Villa. This game was due to be a a six place six pointer. Villa are weird and one of them clubs bracketed in with ourselves, both in current times and historical. Some of their fans have pushed the bell level to a whole new tidemark with their zany chants and all round beautish behaviour in recent seasons. Now I'm not talking from an elevated level here as we have our Moyes detractors but I'm amazed about the pressure put on O'Neill from them, they are miles better for having him there.
Which leads us onto O'Neill, he's a huge hank. But one with trophies to show for it. His teams are like a super deluxe Wimbledon yet they avoid the label somehow of being hoofers somehow.
They have some decent players, when Young stops scrunching his face up and falling over limbs then he can be some player, and Milner always looks a threat despite having the look of a WWII teenager. Carew is an excellent target man with a fantastic touch and this will be no easy game.
Testament to his effectiveness on return, Everton look much poorer when Arteta isn't in the team so will look much improved when he's back, which is likely for this game. I would wager that Bily will relegated to the bench not for the first time this season to make way. It would be nice to see one of our centre forwards actually making a claim for that sole position up front and maybe Yakubu will return for this one.
Villa have a semi final date with Chelsea on the weekend before and will be up for this game hot on the heels soon after. We'll see which of our players take to the field in flip flops and hope for a repeat of the City game if we are to get something out of this.
