i am delighted orchard.....i was told on friday shane was goning to start....so i was lucky enough to go over and watch it.....i can tell you there was no prouder man sitting in villa park than me.....i thought he done great for his first full game....i have been reading comments on here for a hour now and i would like to thank everyone for the remarks....so great one ,so ok one and some not so good...for the ones not so good i totally agree shane has a hell off a way to go before he can be considered as a regular...and yes he has got a chance because of injurys in the team....but you only get one chance in this game and for me he has sent a message to moyes and said i will and can do a job for you....i hate to see players get injuryed simple because of the injury shane when through 20 months ago ...but these things do happen and the fringe players have to be ready...shane is home with us for a few days now...and he has learned so much in 2 games it just blows me away....he wants this and he wont stop till he gets it....and fair play to him for having ago...(y)

You must be a proud man today, having seen Shane go from the point of wondering whether he would ever be able to play football again to seeing him make his Premier League debut. It certainly looks at the moment like he is going to make the grade at this level, and hopefully it will be with Everton for years to come. I also think he may be in Trap's plans for the future too if he does make it - next step an international call up for the B.I.G. Glad he made the right choice as far as that is concerned. Best of luck for your many future visits to Goodison. Slàinte.

Considering where he could of been 18 months ago. Its remarkable and we're dead proud.

He's definitely coming along physically isn't he? I remember watching him at Rochdale a few years back and he scored (from the corner) so have literally been watching him for a few years now.

He looks to have everything he needs physically and if he can continue to learn the art of distribution from the back he could go far with us like.

Just tell him to keep working hard focused on learning and its all there for him really. Its all about being a professional and elite sportsman now.

I agree the message is there in that he can be relied on if needed. Thats the first rung on the ladder. Well done to Shane keep working hard.

The only thing I'd like to see is a bit more confidence in his ability to beat a man. There have been a few occasions since he's been back, particularly today, where he's had the opportunity to drive at a fullback and try to get in the box himself, but he's tended to shy away from these and rely on passing. He's certainly a good influence on the squad in general tho.

100% agree with this. It's something national team fans and Galaxy fans have noticed. Ever since he pronounced himself no longer a goal scorer (following this he went ironically on a goal scoring tear for the Galaxy), he seems to favor trying to assist more than scoring. It's been driving us fans batty since he's a leading goal scorer and solid finisher. If he's on the wing, he favors assisting, if he's playing withdrawn forward, he tends to go to goal more. Might be a mental shift or his coach telling him BEAT YOUR MAN. One of his weaknesses is his dribbling though - he can dribble around you with space, but if someone is encroaching on him in close quarters, he's not as good at it. So he may rely on the pass in those instances. Should go to goal more often and take the risk though.

We'll see how it develops over the next few weeks. Thanks for the platform!

Congratulations good sir!!! You can also tell your son that those of us in America that are Evertonians are learning his name as well. Good stuff, and give your son our support!
