Are Chelsea foundering because of Scolari, or because they lost Steve Clarke as assistant, and nobody knew the squad, strengths and weaknesses, etc. as well as the long-serving Clarke?

Did we start off slow this season, but then improve dramatically, in part because Steve Round was finding his feet? Does he get some credit for the way we're playing now?

What part has Pat Rice played in Wenger's success down the years?

An Assistant is a vital part of management. They help enforce discipline and they also give the manager another set of eyes and another point of view. I dont think we can "blame" Round for the poor start, but it must have had some effect. Our poor start wasnt anything to do with tactics, it was more to do with mistakes from the players.

The manager makes most decisions at a club, but i have no doubt that a good assistant is just as important as a good manager.

Sam Allerdyce had enormous sucess at Bolton, but at Newcastle failed misserably, and Bolton slumped down alot.

Could this be down to when Sam was in charge at Bolton that his assistant was Hull City's Phil Brown, I would say he must have been the one who was doing things right.

Sam's had a good job at Blackburn though, but still in relegation danger
