Don't get the huge hatred for Cole. He took a pay rise from a better club and divorced Cheryl Cole, who is an absolute bellend herself. Don't confuse fit with nice. He pinged a lad with an air gun too, oh dear.

He might not be as effective in attack as he was a few years ago, but he is still a great defender. Did you not see him keep Suarez and Sterling quiet the other week? He's a good player, and I think it is mental not taking him to the WC. If Hodgson has finally decided on Baines having the LB spot nailed down, then put Cole on the right! He's better than anyone in contention for that position.

ha ha ha couldn't make it up.

He knew deep down that he most likely wasn't going to be picked. The obvious choices were Baines and Shaw. 12 months ago he was the natural choice at left back. Now he isn't even the backup. He is doing one because he simply doesn't want to be left out of the squad and all that comes with that.

....tremendous footballer, no doubt, but I posted on the other thread that I think its a bit of a cop out to 'retire' at the point where you get discarded. One thing I admired about Beckham was the fact that despite losing the captaincy and ultimately getting dropped from the squad, he never took the easy option to 'retire from international football'. Beckham said he was there if England needed. Top pro.
