As it stands...

With no cover at full back on either side, no wingers, one reliably fit striker, out of form star central midfielder, Fellaini dithering on a contract (and all the strife that will bring around christmas time), the two Tim's flying off for tin pot tournaments and qualifiers every three weeks, a captain with the deadliest right finger in the league and a chairman with short fingers and long pockets coupled with the inevtable slow start, injury crisis and a star player leaving in the middle of August I'm going to say 3rd! Only kidding, 8th nailed on.

I wouldn't expect us to finish in the top half next year without additions to the squad. Not sayin we can't, or won't, finish top half or even europe, but I think our tiny squad is gonna get properly found out at some point despite being good enough for a european challenge. We just don't have enough players of the requisite quality and experience in our first team squad. We've got by in the past on sheer balls-out hard work and passion, but we can't rely on disney-like turnarounds in our on-the-pitch fortunes every year. We ain't the mighty ducks ffs.

Personally, I think we were really, really fuken lucky last year. The league was crazily tight last year, in a way that I don't think we've seen before in the premier league years. If we'd shown the kind of form we had last season in a "normal" premiership season, we'd have been lucky not to get drawn into the scrap at the bottom.

With an aging first-team squad and a lack of talent that is perhaps ready to make the step up this year (although over the next 5 years I think we'll have some exciting prospects coming through) we have to be damn careful that we can remain competitive in the interim.

I don't think we were lucky last year, we had injuries galore and ultimately we were the 7th best team in the league, thats undoubtable. But at the same time i see where your coming from, it would be very easy for this team to slip into the bottom half next season if the injuries are the same and we've still not added to the squad. It concerns me how teams below us as well as above us are improving while we are standing still, and have been for 2 years.

Sooner or later its got to catch up with us. As has been said before though, i just hope Kenwright goes before Moyes does.

Mid-table with a cup run to a semi-final :(

This is my first post in a week cus just can't muster the energy to talk about us much. This club is squeezing the life out of me (n)
