Article about football in the USA

Yup - I posted it in the summer acquisitions thread too. I agree wholeheartedly with what he has to say and have mentioned quite a bit of it here already (I work in marketing). Other than Man U there aren't a lot of teams that have a coherent marketing strategy in the EPL. If they applied one to the American market I think they could convert even more fans.

Good article, but when I read 'football in the USA,' I automatically think American Football. I'm just glad Everton got a mention in an ESPN article...

Interesting...Landon Donovan boosted our profile to the yanks like beckhams did to the MLS.

Could be good marketing to "invest" in donovan permanently as well as for his on field.

We could do a lot worse than sign Donovan for both on the field and off the field.

And we'd get more of you darn crazy Americanism on here which isn't a bad thing. Hell, we might even tempted PGH Everton back. DANG.

Based on my experience in the US at the Philly and DC games, seems like Howard's the main reason behind our popularity (such as it is) and LD loan certianly helped. I thinjk the club already missed a good opportunity to raise profile and make some cash by not making merchandisae available on the US tour. And yes, it would make sense on multiple levels to sign one or two high-profile US players if they're good enough to at least make the squad - I think the investment would pay off many times over.

I see you've been recruiting for here while in DC...
