Arteta 'Weeks Away' – News Archive – News – evertonfc.com – The Official Website of Everton Football Club

"He's had his work cut out over the last few months but Everton's head physio Mick Rathbone hopes many of the Blues’ top names will soon make their long awaited return to action.

Mikel Arteta, Phil Neville, Phil Jagielka and Victor Anichebe are just some of the players who've needed expert medical treatment on their knees so far this year.

Speaking exclusively to evertonTV, Mick Rathbone further explained the recent news that has seen Arteta’s return delayed.

"Mikel has had the sutures removed and a bit of the meniscus came free but he seems fine,” he said.

“He is only seven-and-a-bit months post-op so you've got to be careful because these injuries take a long time to come back from. We have to take it on the chin and support Mikel but we are talking about a return to action for him in weeks not months."

We'll be truly ace when he's back.

Him and Rodwell in the middle might, just might enable Moyes to play a 4-4-2 if needed. Well, for Saha and Yakubu up front.

What do you reckon Toccy?

He prefers TxB, but imagine a midfield of Pienaar, Arteta, Rodwell and Billy, with the Yak and Saha up top. Christ we would win the World Cup with that Mid, For.

I have many names and I like the majority of them, a man a Chico's ilk can call me whatever he wants.

And yes Chico, it would be superb. It would be good to finally have that 4-4-2 option without having to worry about our midfield being overpowered and outplayed.

I almost sex weed when I saw that.

I think, with that midfield who can actually retain the ball, 4-4-2 would be a possibility.

Although even if it's only weeks, it'll still take him a while to get up to full fitness.

Yeah I think if we do see him in October he will be a shadow of his former self, at least for a good few weeks, by Xmas he should be flying tho, if all goes well.

Cahill and Fellaini on the bench with that starting team wouldnt be too bad to bring on either.

That 4-4-2 bit excited me, [Poor language removed] it I hate doing this but:

--------------Howard-----------------

Neill------Jagielka--Distin----Baines

Pienaar--Rodwell--Mikkel---Billy

------Yakubu------Saha--------------

More importantly, the bench would be mustard too as were going to be playing a load of games all things going to plan.

Looks fantastic. Pace, strength, creativity, intelligence, aerial ability, movement etc.

I think Neill will be our first choice right back to be honest, once he gets up to speed.

Then, he could be back to full training by the end of International break and who knows we might even see a second half substitution appearance of Arteta in the Villa game?

If that is the case we might get to see Billy, Pienaar and Arteta all on the field at the same time, by the time we play Man U, RS & Chelsea.

COME ON MIKEL YOU ARE THE GREATEST

But like I said before, I'm more concerned with him coming back without any permanent damage than seeing him play anytime soon.
