He doesn't speak for me. He is a vile slug. I wonder if he is the sort of vermin who actually SENDS people bullets in the post? He has better access than most to their addresses...

As most of the comments under that story suggest, the defence of the jeering of the anthem is so misguided it's untrue. Why was it not jeered in 2006? Or 2001? Even if one can understand why it happened, it should not be justified. I dislike our national anthem, but I fail to see the point in jeering it.

Some of the posters think that the booing of the Hillsborough silence (which was awful btw) and the jeering on Saturday are not comparable. Well why do it if you don't want it compared?

Prentice sees his arse about the club every time. It's boring. He'll make a snide comment and you won't see him again for 7 years apart from articles about how boss Kenwright is and stuff.

They should get Kenwright to sing the national anthem before home games, in order to trap Prentice in a maze of his own logic until he goes mad and eats himself.

Not arsed about GSTQ being drowned out like, but Prentice is just a brown noser who hedges his bets with both sets of supporters.

Apparently he used to be a good journalist about 30 years ago or something. Hard to imagine now.

disdain expressed for the same establishment which agreed to a “managed declineâ€￾ of Merseyside in the 1980s and 1990s.

how many Kopites there on Saturday are not from Merseyside and where born after 1990

An outstanding Anfield talent like Michael Owen was viewed suspiciously by Liverpool fans long before he left for Real Madrid, because he was often seen to be putting country before club.

No they treat 90% of players who dare leave there club for bigger things with utter disdain not for enjoying playing for his country,Does Gerrard not enjoy it? Hes been playing in the national side long enough to suggest that he does

Merseyside supporters also believe they belong to a different country.

Scousers are in England, not of it.

Again putting us with them by saying Merseyside instead of calling it like it is and writing Liverpool

As before how many of the Liverpool fans who went to Wembley dont come from or live in Merseyside

"Merseyside supporters also believe they belong to a different country"

I think events and comments in the past year have shown that many Liverpool supporters (note, not all) are inhabiting a totally different planet, never mind country.

In the USA I'm pretty sure that booing the national anthem is a massive no-no. I wonder their American owners would think of their fans' behaviour at the weekend. Another embarrassment for him, with the league failure, poor signings, racism, cheating players, terrible media performances from the manager etc. I bet they are wondering how they got themselves involved with such a circus.

Those who fail to see the obvious irony of a set of football supporters singing one of their favourites just before the National Anthem - which just happens to be based on a Republican refrain about a boy taken by the British Authorities and transported to Australia - can scarcely be expected to respect (or at the very least remain silent during) the National Anthem. As others have said before "always offended never to blame".

I've read some ****e in that rag over the years - and that's right up there with the worst.

AGREED. That there is being Vaulted.

"Scousers have always been belligerently non-conformist – and resist being told how they can and can’t behave."

Prentice wants slaughtering for that. Utter tit.
