Whilst it's important to remember the sacrifices that have been made, that are being made and that will be made by armed forces, I think there are more than enough events surrounding paying respect to such.

However, I think it's also important to perhaps analyse the reasons why are these events necessary and perhaps we could try a willingness to prevent these types of days becoming necessary... #warandbombsshouldbealastresort

Seems to be becoming more prominent.

What's everyone's thoughts of celebrating such a day?
I think the media propagation that people who sign up for something knowing what they might get caught up in as heroes is wrong.

Conscription etc is different, but nobody in this country is forced to join the military anymore.

I've seen across various platforms today people arguing that it's unneeded nationalist jingolism.
It can be viewed as such. Others simply see it as a chance to pay respect to our armed forces and don't care about the alleged political implications that seem to obsess the events detractors. I don't see why it should effect anyone one way or the other. As I said before, if people think it's a waste of time they should just ignore it. Getting rid of something just because you don't approve of it is really quite an intolerant outlook to have imo.
