Argentina's Independiente suffer historic relegation

Don't know how they incorporate newly promoted teams into this system.
Basically newly-promoted clubs have a two-year immunity from relegation. On the other hand, it means that if you finish bottom of the table twice in a row, you don't get relegated those seasons but you have to virtually win the league the next season because you are already badly screwed by your rolling average, and so you get clubs being relegated despite some strong performances
 

So if there are 18 teams in the league with 3 up 3 down each year then of the 18, 6 are untouchable so another 3 need to go from 12 based on averages of three years.

Blimey. Not surprised some big clubs have gone.
