Chile wins the whole thing
Chile wins the whole thing
Not happening now. Gotta think Uruguay has this in their grasp, but if they go down it's going to be a nation down South that I think has never won before. Shocking.
Nah, Peru and Paraguay have both won it before (as have Bolivia and Colombia, incidentally.) Chile are the only "big" team to have never won it.
Venezuela have never even made the semis before, though. They're the real underdogs here and a great advert for the new qualifying system where everyone plays everyone else which has really strengthened the old minnows like Venezuela and Ecuador.
I know that Peru has won it, btw, because in my never ending search for reasons to feel good about English football I discovered that Jack Greenwell, who was born in a pit village in County Durham, was the only non south american to ever manage a team to win the Copa America when he won it with Peru in 1939.
Caceres is bause. Had forgotten about him, was on my list of cool footballers.
