I want to get one not massive, and one that needs little or no cleaning, but that would look nice in the living room ? Any advice?

Ive always fancied an aquarium

what do you call not massive mate? Juwel vision 180 are lovely bow fronted tanks and look gorgeous and can be picked up cheaply on eBay. They are 3 ft long. Tropical fish don't require loads of cleaning, maybe weekly water changes or at least monthly ones.

Used to have telpia's, mouth breeders, fascinating until out of nowhere you have a tank full of them, they make rabbits seem neutered. Incidentally fish in the wild, carp in particular, can live up to 50/60 years or longer
