Apathetic Evertonians

As a non season ticket holder - it was a privilege for me to be at the game today.

Loved every part of it, walking down to the ground, enjoyed a couple of pints, saw lots of friendly, smiling faces enjoying themselves - stadium looks incredible, was genuinely awe inspiring for me. I remember my dad taking me to Goodison as a 10 year old - and standing in the shadow of this new gorgeous home made me miss him more than ever

Then I get into the game. Mass exodus after 30 minutes, another exodus after 40 - most of the crowd coming back late for the second half.

And then the legends game. For which about 70% of the fanbase buggered off for. Not interested in seeing Baines and Pienaar? Yakubu? How about just soaking up a little bit more of the atmosphere in our glorious new stadium - in a game that didn't cost you anything extra to attend.

Fans not bothered about seeing Dewsbury Hall debut? Aznou and Barry playing?

Seems like a large portion of our fanbase is more arsed about hanging around a concessions stand rather than watching a football match.

Lots of people had been there since 12 mate, it was a very long day. Plus, people always disappear to grab a drink close to half time.

Great post, mate. Today was a day of celebration. Why so many people become starved and emaciated with loaded bladders at games instead of eating before and enjoying the match is beyond me. Grab a pint or two when the match starts. Take a leak before the game. So many people on their phones. You all were the first fans ever in the new stadium. How long ago was that the case at Goodison? It can only happen once and you got to be there. That’s awesome.

I didn’t go today as I’m saving it for Brighton . It’s a friendly though isn’t it ? A chance to see the new ground , sort your HT speck out and see What’s on offer . Also a lot of my mates didn’t bother today either so I’m guessing there is a few just enjoying the experience as often happens in friendlies but now to also see the new ground .

It wasn’t a league game and there were a couple of new players but not too much to get excited about . I don’t think people having a beer and catching up with mates they might not have seen for a couple of months is an issue personally .

If you sat through the Dyche era for much of people were chatting and sliding off early, not because that were too cool because it was crap and ridiculously boring .

If you’re on here or someone else who’s going comments on the same in a fortnight then fair enough but for me I’m not sure it’s particularly important. Fair enough that you feel differently.

Don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment as it's your experience, but the bit in bold, the queues on the concourse for food/drink where I was sat in the north stand were incredibly bad, especially at half time. I think this is why people left early in the first half and didn't return until late into the second half
