Khalekan

Player Valuation: £80m
Tony McCoy has announced his retirement.

I am sorry to hear that after all these years at the top but time waits for no man.

Best wishes to AP for the future.

;)

Thought he was waiting until he got 5,000 winners or was it less, I've lost count ? Broke the record last year didn't he ?

Top top sportsman.

......well done for highlighting @Khalekan. Supreme sportsman, 19 times Champion Jockey. Spare a thought for Richard Johnson and the number of runner up he's had, at least he will get his chance next season.

Very true.

Richard would have been champion multiple times had Tony been born ten years earlier.....or later :)

Surely the best NH jockey never to be champion.

It just won't seem the same without AP.

And with Ruby Walsh surely not far behind him in the retirement stakes, there will be a terrible void at Chektenham in particular.

AP and Ruby has been one of the great racing rivalries.

AP retiring will be like when Lester retired on the flat.

In all liklehood we will never see their likes again.

.....rivalries but great mates. Daughter Dr Eggs set Walsh's arm when he had a fall on Grand National day and watched the big race with him and his wife. Apparently they were jumping up and down shouting "go on Champ" as he got Comply or Die home for his first National win. Great insight into the respect they have for each other.

Ruby stays with AP and his wife when he is over here for a meeting.
