Any fellow GOT'ers race in any kind of sport?

I used to do Triathlon at Ironman distance but the shoulders are fooked now after surgery last summer.

I just Time Trial now, racing in Bickerstaffe (sp) tomorrow afternoon.

I do some mountain bike orienteering events - be a stretch to call it a race, although the winners are all fit XC whippets.
I will be doing some 10 mile time-trials when our club starts them later this year. Not tried them before - anticipating some serious pain. What sort of time's are you posting Leeboy?

Don't race my bike as such, as I'm only small so not at all suited to the flat courses you typically get in Britain. Try and do some European sportives each year though.

Used to swim as a lad. 100/200 butterfly were my events.

Used to do a bit of swimming hated butterfly, at what point did the inventor think that will be a useful stroke, used to leave me with loads of work to do because i was so terrible at it in individual medlies

I'd say the same about breastroke. Was always useless at that. Liked fly though as it was one of those you could tough it out. Of course, it got to a stage where you'd be up against guys well over 6ft and it was kind of game over.

On the name dropping front though, I used to be in the same relay team as former British breastroke champion Darren Mew. Suffice to say, I used to love that going in after he'd creamed everyone on his leg of the relay.

I was in the same city of liverpool squads as stephen parry a couple of times, he was in a few age groups above me, but the guy was ridiculous, there was some lad from the wirral coming through who should have been even better, but wasn't arsed with the training, can't say I blame him, I enjoyed the galas but found the training boring and lonely, hence why I spent my time playing footy and boxing and never even mastered the butterfly technique and got disqualified a fair few times

Aye, the training does require a certain type of mentality. Kinda why I went for fly really as the physicality of it made the training a bit more interesting than just going up and down doing freestyle for a few hours. It's ridiculous how quick the pros are though.
