So i've just tried to order a macbook from apple store via finance and had my finance request refused presumably because of my credit rating/score.

Thing is my credit rating should be fine, i get about £3500 going into my account every month, my account is healthy etc and i have f all direct debits coming out of it.

However in the past couple of weeks i've cancelled two finance orders from the apple store (both of which were approved unlike this most recent one) due to me deciding i wanted a different model. Could these cancelled orders have somehow had a negative effect on my credit rating/score even though i cancelled them through choice ?

That could be your problem mate.

If you've applied for credit in the past few weeks it will be on your credit file. You need to leave a few weeks in between applying for things.

And also having no direct debits on your account can also (weirdly) be a bad thing.

A credit score is built up by proving you are responsible with money. So things like no charges etc on your bank account is great, but you also need to show you are good at paying money back.

If that makes sense.

could be anything mate. get a free copy of your credit report. could be you're not on electoral roll, your address is wrong, previous credit,no credit. Go on experian or equifax and have a look.

Get a copy of your statutory credit report from Experian for £2

Defo these two as well mate.

I've dealt with clients who had no idea what crap they had on their file. And half the time it shouldn't have been there.
