I inherited an ornate pottery stand with brass fittings and lights.. trouble is I think it was bought abroad and it's a bit of a botch job and the light bulbs keep fusing..so I looked inside at the wiring...

The question relates to whether it's safe and if not what needs to be done.

The wiring from the four lights (3 x bayonet, 1 x screw - don't ask) is basic 2 wires (x 4 lots) which join inside the whole structure with a chock-block.. and then the wire leads to the plug - there's no earth (until a few feet from the plug when I think a botch job has joined it altogether so that (maybe) the plug is earthed...

Are we a fuse blowing away from being lifted 100 feet into the air? Thanks..

Cheers... goodbye cruel world !?!

When you say "Inherited" it, like in a Will way, or somehow else?

Cos if its from a Will, reckon you annoyed someone and they want to burn your house down from beyond the grave.

Do you mean the bulbs blow, or the fuse in the plug blows?
