Well the cowboys who services my rental accomodation failed to put the cover back on a light fixture in my office. Now I wasn't bothered until now. I tried to change the light bulb and a blue wire came out.

If you lick the blue wire does it play a tune?

(At this point i should point out that i am not, nor have ever been an electrician and i cant say i would recommend, licking or indeed sucking any wires)

I'm guessing it's coming out of the light fitting if it popped out when changing a bulb.

Is the wire still terminated or is it the stripped end of the cable that is hanging out?

Is it a pendant fitting, is the wire from the white flex? if so go to the board and swith everything of (the big power switch) make sure you have natural light

cut back the blue insulation and connect back into the termination it come out of (if your not sure which one it came out of, it should still have a piece of copper in it)

Well its not my landlords fault. I have reported it to him, but he's about to be stung by a completely new central heating system - so I don't want to burden him to much at the moment, hence why I want to sort it myself.

Also add that our landlords are my wife's best friend, so I'm kind of on the understanding side of the fence.

My level though is at wiring a plug. So if its the same process than I'm happy to take a shot at it. Obviously I will turn off the electrics first.

Before you do anything, you do know if it blows you will be liable in future dont ya ghost?
