I can help out on Auckland based things. Seeing as that is where I am sat right now.

Drop me a PM, but I am off for a kip shortly.

Spending 6 weeks in NZ.
2 weeks on North Island

Basically I want to know if the Bay of Islands/Northland is worth visiting?
Its either that or spend extra nights in Coromandel and Rotorua

Its a long drive up to Northland, is it really worth it?
Cheers

Sorry about the PM restriction, it is to prevent spamming via PM's from spam-bots and the like.....

IMO stick with Coromandel and Rotorua.....it means you won't have to re-settle and will have more time to do stuff. The mid-north island has plenty of stuff to see and do that doesn't warrant the hike you would have to take to get to the Bay of Islands.

Although my knowledge of Northland isn't the greatest, maybe one of the natives or more established ex-pats can give better advice.

Bay of Islands is fantastic. I spent 2 months out of 8 months in NZ up there. Good little piss up. Some nice boat trips as well. Stay as little as possible in Auckland.

Hi mate, going to Northland is great if you're doing it in the summer time (which I think you are), some of the best beaches around, it's pretty native up that way though, not a lot to do except catch some waves. If I were you personally I wouldn't go to Northland but I'd go all around the Bay Of Islands, it's a really laidback, beautiful area.

As Dylan said, stick around the Rotorua/Taupo area for heaps of touristy things to do, volcanoes to look at etc.

Depends what you really want to get up to.
