Any legal experts out there? (Sales)

I have just bought two return flights with Qatar airways from their site at an excellent price. It turns out that the reason it was so excellent was because they only charged me the taxes and not the ticket price. I have received my etickets and booked my seats but today they contacted me saying it was an error blah blah. I argued the toss...their error which should be honoured etc. They will get back to me!

My question is of course as it is their error can they cancel my ticket etc. or do they have to honour the sale?

They don't have to honour it unfortunately. Although there is offer and acceptance and thus a valid contract, there is an exception for clear error - especially in regards to online sales - which means that the selling party does not have to honour it.

Think of it this way - if you bought a TV in a shop because the sign said £10 instead of £1,000, the person at the till would rightly decline the sale because the price sign is just an invitation to treat, not a contractual offer. Online sales should also be afforded the same opportunity.

You could, of course, argue the toss and threaten them with legal procedures etc. and they may just let you have it to avoid the nuisance, but if you DID actually take it to court and they defended it in any meaningful way then you'd certainly lose.

In short, feel free to bluff, but don't expect it to be honoured - you're relying on them just not being arsed more than anything.
 
Thanks for that. Pretty much as I thought. They are responding in 24 hours...might push for a refund on the rough guide I bought to coincide with the trip.

they deal with these, they expect you to complain and to sit smugly behind the screen whilst they make you think they might offer you something in return only to give you a massive slap in the fod when they say 'no' and you know you cannot do anything bout it except never to return and use their custom, but they don't care because they are a mega conglomeration that will attract business from many others. Smile smugly you ****s, we will see who has the last laugh.

Then steal the keys to the plane and crash it onto the air traffic control tower
 

Depends on the customer service targets of the company. Some would honour it just for PR reasons, but it's probably unlikely they will.
 
Go down to their offices and take a dump in the doorway........ pick a bit up with a food bag covering your hands and smear it on the door handles of the main entrance.... nobody will be able to get into work and they will lose loads of money.
