Just reversed his decision to retire. Good news as even at the grand old age of 36 he still scored 20 goals last season.

One of my favourite ever players who has somehow gone under the radar despite having one of the most consistently prolific scoring records in European football:

All the while not playing for one of the Italian giants (Udinese league finishes in his time there: 4th, 11th, 10th, 7th, 7th, 15th, 4th, 3rd, 5th, 13th).

In addition to his prolific scoring, he's also technically adept with quick feet and good vision, wracking up 49 assists in Serie A to go alongside his exceptional scoring rate.

And in an age where every footballer seems to be an unlikeable, unrelatable prat, his attitude has always been refreshing. Quick to shake off speculation about moves to bigger clubs, he always remained loyal to Udinese. To top it off, when his team mate Piermario Morosini passed away after a heart attack on the pitch at the age of 25, he took it upon himself to take financial care of Morosini's disabled sister.

Would he join us on loan?

I would eat my left testicle to see him in our colours. But this is a man who turned down Juventus, the biggest club in the country, because his kids had grown up in Udine and he and his family were settled there.

Somehow I don't think the promise of boss trabs and Pukka pies will be enough.

He can pass up Baggio on the top scorers chart next year with 14 goals, another ten/eleven past that would result in him being fourth place all time, still two spots behind Totti. I think it's doable in two seasons.

He's slowing down but clearly even a past his best Di Natale is still exceptional. I'm sure he's got one more good season in him at least. 17 league goals at the age of 36 is marvelous (same as Higuain, and more than Balotelli and Llorente).

Then again, Luca Toni managed 20 Serie A goals last year and he's 37!
