you can understand the fury.

just feel for all the families who have lost loves ones just because they're building the stadiums.

brazil will provide a brilliant carnival atmosphere for the tournament, but it was the wrong to allow such a poor country to be host. do FIFA provide any financial help btw? it is their tournament after all.

I remember reading before the 2010 world cup that they don't provide assistance and in fact demand "assistance" from the host country in the form of tax exemption on profits and a monopoly on merchandise, food and drink sales in and around stadia, thus denying locals the chance to sell their own goods. Dunno if that's still the case now.

I read that this WC is more expensive than the previous 3 combined. When hearing that I can totally understand the protests. Imagine what Brazil could've achieved socially with all that money.

thought as much.

yes it could be argued that a poor country like Brazil shouldn't be putting their names forward for such an event because of the financial implications, but at the end of the day, it's FIFA's tournament. they should be working in tandem with the host and also providing that country with an opportunity to develop as a result of the event.

the whole thing is just horrible.

Brazil has the 7th best economy in the world ahead of places like Spain(13th) and Italy(9th),Britain is 6th.I'm not sure how much the wealth is spread around but it certainly isn't a poor country.
