Another striker on the road to ruin at Everton.

How do you figure that ?

They will have Cattermole and Sessignon back, and we were very lucky to get a point at theirs in December. They're also above us in the league and held us to a draw. The wind is very much in their sails.

I hardly think having Gibson back swings it for us.

Because gibson hasn't lost a game in an everton shirt I believe.

Because this is an extra couple of weekes to get jagielka rodwell and other players fit.

Because I'm not looking for negative things like you are.

Neither of whom should feature.

The fact that Gibson hasn't lost a game in an Everton shirt is meaningless, he's played a few games doing a very similar job to that which Rodwell does, neither set the world on fire. Apart from the City goal (which took a lovely deflection) he's been average.

I'm not 'looking for the negative', to say that we will have the momentum when our draw on the weekend was widely seen as a failure is just naive. End of.

If you go back a week or so to before the derby game you can read the posts i made which were full of optimism about our chances of going there and getting 3 points, and i was widely shot down for saying it. Perhaps i should have been 'negative' after all.

YOU'RE SPENT

YOU'RE SPENT

'My name's Matt and i don't have any thought out response, so i'll just throw out a tired old cliche'

I'll say what i always say, we have every chance of going to the Stadium of Light and beating Sunderland if we play the way we've shown we can against the likes of Chelsea and City. I think you'll find that statement is far more optimistic than most of the posters on here.

YOU'RE SPENT HURRRDURRRR

Disagree on Jelavic, the lad has quality. Its our system and lack of quality thats the prob for me.

This. I've liked what I've seen so far. It would take a world-beater to magic chances out of thin air. If we get the right service to him, he'll score far more goals than Straq or Vic.

It's all about the service, something we have been very poor at providing for our forwards for the last 3 seasons.

Well people were calling for another striker, a striker is what we got. A Creative mid should have been number one priority in my opinion. Even the worst striker in the world can knock in goals if there is a good creative mid allowing him to.

We by pass the centre of the pitch, everything goes down the left, to the point where the ball is just knocked in aimlessly if it isn't Baines crossing the ball.

Our play is so predictable, it's been sussed out.

I, personally, have been impressed with Jelavic. His work rate and commitment are far, far better than what we had previously in Saha

This.

I thought some of his touches and technique have been great. Even a few against QPR when he was thrown into a fairly untried formation that floundered. Over the next two months I believe he will start to really link up with Cahill and Ossie. He should even relieve some defensive pressure off Cahill which has made him seem a bit more lively in the box of late (not including the obvious drought-breaker on the weekend passed).

Not for once has he been s**t... yet. Still, I'd prefer him to be average this season and be consistent for the rest of his contract than score 20 in his first and be a wage-drainer for his final contract years, *cough*yak*cough*.

Bang on mate we are nearly clueless at creating chances.
Aimless long balls into the box with jelavic on his own against 3 defenders will soon rag him off.
